Rio Secreto

Become a spelunker for a day! Rio Secreto is an underground carven system that is a beautiful nature reserve. It has a subterranean river you can swim in and is filled with stalactites and stalagmites. This is an amazing experience to have with your loved ones. This activity is recommended for people in good physical condition and who aren’t afraid of darkness as there are parts of the caverns only illuminated by a lamp.

The Rio Secreto Plus tour package also includes a “dry route” through the caves to an area where you will watch a light show projected on the walls. You will also rappel down to a cave and bike through the jungle.

Admission only includes:

• Access to the Rio Secreto nature reserve in a group of no more than 10 people
• Use of towels
• Use of a life jacket
• Specialized guide
• Use of a helmet with lamp
• Buffet lunch
• Use of a wetsuit
• Non-alcoholic drinks
• Use of lockers

Does not include:

• Transportation
• Additional activities at Rio Secreto, in Cancun or Playa del Carmen
• Food or beverages during the tour (they’re not permitted within the caves, either) other than those offered at the buffet lunch
• Souvenirs, handicrafts, clothes, etc
• Photo or video services
• Tips
• Any other service or product not mentioned on the inclusions list

• Minimum age: 4 years old
• Maximum recommended weight: 120 kg / 250 lb
• Photographic and video cameras are not allowed inside the cave system
• Maximum depth of water: 2 meters
• Rio Secreto is not recommended for persons with severe physical or motor disabilities, heart problems, pregnant women or persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Avoid use of chemicals before taking this trip (sunblock, repellent, make-up, etc)

Suggestions:

• Wear comfortable beachwear, swimming shoes and a swimsuit
• Bring an extra set of clothes (just in case)
• You can’t use any sunscreen lotion at Rio Secreto (you don’t need it, since the tour is mostly underground)
• Bring some cash and a credit or debit card since the use of certain equipment requires a deposit or to pay for any other service not mentioned on the inclusions list
